Knowledge has no borders. Neither do we.

Sevā does not mean working for nothing. It means working for something larger than profit, and doing so in a way that is honest, sustainable, and fair to everyone involved.

Running a platform like ours involves real, ongoing work. Curriculum is researched and built by educators who have spent years in their fields. Lessons are written, recorded, edited, and refreshed. Learner questions are answered. Assessments are reviewed. Communities are moderated. Materials are adapted for different contexts and learner needs.

There are also the practical realities of operating an online platform. Servers, bandwidth, course-hosting software, accessibility tools, and security systems all carry recurring costs. 

Keeping the platform running, the courses current, and the founder and guest lecturers are themselves expressing Sevā: care for the people who learn here, and for the people who make the learning possible.

We share this openly because transparency is part of how we practice what we teach. When a learner contributes to The Nalanda Forum, they are not overpaying for a brand name or subsidizing profit margins. They are participating in the upkeep of a shared learning commons, and helping ensure that the next person who arrives finds the same quality, the same care, and the same open door.

This is what Sevā looks like in institutional form. Not sacrifice. Not austerity. A well-run, thoughtfully resourced organization that holds quality and accessibility as equally non-negotiable.
